Dear ALL,
I am simulating impact load on extruded aluminum panels. When I use planner geomertery, The results are okay but when I use extrusion, the results are changed considerably. As the Geometry of my samples can't be developed using a planner, what should I adopt to get closer results using extrusion?
 
What do you mean by planner - a planar type of shell feature? Whichever type you choose, results won’t change as long as you draw the same geometry and thus obtain the same mesh. Abaqus has a geometry modeler similar to what CAD programs offer (just simplified) so usually you can draw your part the way you would do this in CAD software of your choice.
 
Yeah, a planner-type shell feature. I checked again, when I use extrusion, the value of impact force is reduced considerably.
 
There must be some difference in the final shape or position of the part. Maybe overlay the part instances created in both ways to see how they differ. And make sure that other settings of each model (interactions, boundary conditions and loads) are the same. You could directly compare the input files to ensure that.
