Eccentrically loaded footing with tension pile

I am trying to design a footing that is eccentrically loaded and I am using tension pile to resist uplift. In this case whether to consider soil bearing pressure uniform under footing just like when designing Strap beam?

No. If the pile can support downward load, it will. You need the spring rate for the soil at ground level and the pile at ground level. Depending on the amount of cohesion, there could be significant interplay between the two of them.

Thanks paddingtongreen, however I do have spring constant but I do want to use soil pressure wouldnt that analogy same as strap beam where you are balancing the moment with another footing and load? In this case we are resisting force couple with tension pile.

I see nothing wrong with your approach. A tension pile or a tension anchor is equivalent to another column in a combined footing. I call it a rectifying force.

Thanks Hokie66 and paddingtongreen.....I thought the same, in reality the pressure distribution will not be the same as uniform but we are applying rectifying force to resist column applying more pressure so before it applies pressure to bottom of footing than limited by tension pile, the pile will resist it from doing so.

By the way I believe in making of new LT for NFL = Logan Thomas......I think he is gonna take us to championship..... looks sharp as QB.....
