I understand that good practice to limit noise in high speed gas flow in a pipe would be to
a) limit increases of diameter to no more than twice as each size change and
b) use expansion of no greater than 15 deg.
What happens to noise levels with a 2.5 - 3 times pipe increase with an eccentric exapnsion using a butt weld pipe fitting reducer? 0.3 < M < 0.7, say, at small end. The included angle of an eccentric reducer will be nearly 150 deg.
I suspect it would be much more noisy. Does any body have any comment or references.
Thanks
