What does everyone use for k1 for wind loads. Table 2.7 says wind gust and instantaneuos are 5 secs duration and gives k1 for timber members and fasteners (k1=1.0 for members and 1.14 for fasteners). Whereas the Timber designers Handbook HB108 says that ultimate wind gusts (Vu) taken from AS1170.2 are 3 seconds duration and increases the value of k1 (k1=1.15 for members and 1.30 for fasteners).

All opinions are welcome.

1.0 and 1.14 is correct.
Table 2.7 used to be 1.15 & 1.30 until Amendment 4 (2002).
It was changed when the new wind code was introduced.
