I am trying to do a drop test, but I don't what wrong with my procedure, could you give me some advices? I have being done this simulation for a month...........

1. build two models, one for drop object, one for ground body

2.material assigned

3.set connection for ground body with"weld", set drop body with "free"

4. Initial condition: velosity set zero and height is 100mm

5. Gravity load : -9801 in the y-direction

6. contact region: select the surface of two body's contact position

I did it many and many time, but still not sucess, could you give me some advices? Please~~~~
And two error window come out after I press run~

Mechanica cannot proceed with the analysis because it could not open the geometry model database needed for contact regions or clearance measures.
Unable to communicate with the simulator. This probably means the simulator terminated unexpectedly. There may be more information in the

it seems that you are using pro/mechanica motion for this problem. Mechanica motion requires a C compiler to do the calculations. do you have a C compiler installed?? MSVC++ for windows machines??

do not use directories with spaces

Sure! I install the Visual C++ & Visual Base.

Other than that, did I do a wrong procedure of drop test in motion?

ok, most likely you installed mechanica in a directory with spaces (ie; program files)

try setting this environment variable MM_TMPDIR to C:\TEMP for example

good luck

ok~

other than the problem of installation, did I do something wrong of my procedure?

another could help me?? Thank you very much!

hello, can anyone do me a favor. When i choose a cylinder as the drop object, drop/impact into groud, it was failed, and the message box was "Pro/mechanica detected contact at the edge of a surface in contact region 'contact 1' at time...currently, pro/mechanica does not support edge contact."

Waiting for your answer, and thanks!
