Drawing gear profile

I need to be able to draw a gear profile in Solidworks
and I don't know how I should do it. there are a couple of
videos on Youtube but they are not clear. I should also
mention that I do not want to use softwares like Geartrax,
which produce a ready gear, I want to draw it myself step
by step(because I am recording a Macro and I should do all
the steps).

I would be very grateful if anybody could help.

Use the free web app at www.me-bac.com and download the true involute profile of the gear to use with Solidworks. It works geat! In the svg image, you could see the movement of the rack cutter and use it to study your gear. Bye!
