Dear All,

I am going to draw a 3-D model to be run in Abaqus. I would like to know how I can do that.

I find it is a little bit cumplicated to design the 3-D structure with certain curvatures in CAE.

Could anyone tell any assisting softwares or approaches of designing the 3-D geometry in a simpler way for finite element analysis?

Many thanks,

Jay

It may be better and easier to model the part in a CAD package, like Solidworks/Autodesk/ProE and then import the model into an FEA package.

Thanks Timusop.

Could I design the mesh with the CAD package ?

I also heard about Rhino for model design. Is it good ?

Many thanks,

Jay

Thanks Rob.

If I want to do some iterations like

1. draw a geometric object in solidwork
2. import to abaqus and mesh
3. export the the deformed geometric object
4. can i automatically mesh the deformed object again in abaqus ?
5. deform it..
6...repeat step 4 and 5

or i need some other geometry compilers to code the deformed object for input to FEM analysis ??

Thanks a lot,

Jay
