I’m doing more of this all the time and I’m having issues with the methods I’m using
First, We design the Weldment assembly complete.
Second, That weldment is placed into a parent part for the machining modifications.
Third, That Parent part is loaded into a Drafting file for documentation.
I’m using one of the two methods below to bring weldment solid bodies into the machining parent to modify them
• Promote Bodies
Positive: Works well with the Drafting “Auto Ballooning” tool.
Negative: Drafting “Hole Callout” tool doesn’t recognize holes made in the Promoted body.
• Wave Linked Bodies
Positive: Works well when using the Drafting “Hole Callout” tool
Negative: Doesn’t work with the Drafting “Auto Ballooning” tool.
The component the wave linked body was extracted from needs to be placed on a unique layer.
That unique layer must then be hidden from the drafting view using the “Layer Visible in View” tool.
Can anyone share their best / better practices?
