Good day,

In Which chapter or (UG) standard ASME VIII - Div 1 says the nozzles must be made of metal bars. And never sheet metal. What page? Please. UG - 14?

Thank you.

UG-14 describes limitations on use of rods and bars, it states nothing about nozzles.

Look at UG-5 through UG-8 for materials applications.

There is nothing wrong with using rolled sheet steel to fabricate a nozzle. If you are referring to gauge material, see UG-45 for minimum nozzle thicknesses.

And UG-16 for minimum material thickness.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Good afternoon,

I could use tubes to manufacture nozzle, instead of sheet metal and bars metal?

If yes, I would use tubes, because it will be more economical. Not need machining.

Thank you.

pesquisador, tube, pipe, plate / sheet, forgings, castings, bars, shapes and even non-metallics may all be used in construction of pressure vessels subject to the various relevant provisions of the Code.

Mike
