Does stainless tube (304) oxidize if heated above 650 deg C
I heard that chromium oxide develops on it?
What temp will it occure?

304 will oxidize from about 250C on up. The oxide at the lowest temperatures is straw colored and darkens progressively to black as oxidation temperature and scale thickness increase.
