Does AS3600 recognise shear-friction theory?

I am retired now, so am not up to date. I have always been a skeptic about shear friction being a substitute for good old fashioned bearing, and some recent events overseas have reinforced my doubts.
 
No, it is still as you remember it. Shear Friction is not mentioned in AS3600.
 
I only know the basic idea of shear friction, not the detailed ACI requirements, but is longitudinal shear in AS3600 along the same lines? It uses yield strength as the clamping force but not much benefit of roughened interface over smooth.
