Does a part file "remembers" the license bundles it was created on?

Hi All,

Our customer sent us a part file, which contains features we haven't the license for. That means the model history tree contains some features, which I need to change or correct, but explore a license issue while trying to edit them. Is there a way to know which license bundles were used by the part author during its development?

I can't speak for ALL licenses, but at one point if a feature was created in, say, Shape Studio, that feature could still be edited within the Modeling Application (without a Shape Studio license). I would hope it would be that way across the board, but we all know how eager companies can be to get every last dollar out of their customers at times.

Regarding your particular question, you could probably post the feature name (like Edge Blend, Studio Surface, etc.) and have someone give you a good idea.

That's how NX was designed to work, as long as editing the feature does not require you to move to a unique task. Most design features, including surface modeling falls into that category where you should not have any problems.

However, there are some recent exceptions, including the recently announced 'NX Realize Shape'. In this case, you have to actually be in the module to enter the task where the various editing tools are available. But once an 'NX Realize Shape' model has been created, you can still edit it like it were a non-feature-based free-form model. Of course that will require that you have access to tools like 'X-Form' and 'I-Form', but at least you won't need an 'NX Realize Shape' license.

You could always fall back on Synchronous Modeling....

Thank you all for your answers, the problem feature is one from Realize Shape module.
It would be definately no problem if the geometry was less complicated - it is a complex aerospace shape - hard to edit it using synchronous modelling. Anyway, will ask the customer to edit the part and send it once again.
