DO-160E Sand test states that "mechanical moving features of the equipment can be manipulated ten times... " after the test to check for cloggin or binding.

Can this instruction also be applied to fans, which are moving features inside the product ? Those fans can be manipulated by poking thru' the air outlet holes, but are not accessible as such from the outside.

Your experience ?

The vane-axial fans we use are subjected to qualification testing per MIL-STD-810, method 510; Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Testing. We have several different types of fans installed on our platform and this is the requirement (among others) specified by our customer.
