I have had delivered bundles of hot rolled sheet, 2-6mm, that have become quite distorted during transport. Looking at them, it seems there were insufficient bearers used to separate them, some bearers were too short, and they were placed all over the place (bearers not above each other). The bundles of sheets range from 3m to 6m long.

My question is, if bundles of sheet are to be transported, are there any rules of thumb for number of bearers. For example, a bearer for every metre of length, equally spaced.

It depends on where the material was purchased and the experience of the hauler. I have seen specific recommendations provided by the supplier and given to the hauler. It is case by case.
