How can I determine the trundown ratio on a distillation tower that is equiped with valve trays?

The answer of this question should help me to know at what feed rate (the minimum) the tower is expected to have hard time controlling the spec of the products.

thank you very much.

this is totally dependent on the type of valves on your trays. Best way to do this would be to use the software of the manufacturer to calculate this. I am not aware of another possibility.
These programms can usually be downloaded free of charge at the manufacturer's website, but often requires registration with an email adress and/or other contact details.

I suggest visiting first of all, as their software is very good. It also has some generalized and approximate data on other manufacturers trays and goes by the name "sultray". The Koch-Glitsch software is very much comparable and is called "KGTower".

these softwares just tell you the minimum liquid/vapor rate neccessary to keep the column in operation, not if you can still reach specifications without adjusting heat duties and/or reflux rates.
