I have a project whose pond discharge point is directed to an adjacent property owner. I am looking for design techniques in dispersal of the point discharge from the restrictor to mimic exiting natural pre-development sheet flow. I know I can discharge directly into a rip rap berm area and try to dissipate it that way, but I am looking for other ideas as I don't want to re-invent the wheel if others have designed an effective method of simulating existing sheet flow. Thanks in advance.

A "level spreader" is the typical solution for this situation, although there are a range of opinions as to their effectiveness.

A Google search will give you lots of info.
