In reading through the posts on "STAAD vs ..." and other software subject posts, I would like to get your thoughts on whether a software producer of analytical engineering software should be registered, first as an engineering business in at least their state of origin, and secondly, have their software validated and signed off by a registered professional engineer (on staff). Currently state laws require that we (end users) validate the software (which most of us would do whether required by law or not!). While I think this is still necessary, I would also like to see some obligation on the part of the producer to understand engineering, not just numerical manipulation.
