Direct burial of Coupling

Can I direct bury Dresser Style 61 coulping? We have 16" FM coming out of wet well and need transition coupling between ex. FM and proposed FM.

Is direct burial of coupling in gorund acceptable practise?

Direct buried Dresser couplings are common. You will need to give consideration to the application of a field applied coating for proper cathodic protection. Consult your Dresser rep.

It seems like I have seen couplings of various brands and styles that included "shop primer" (IE, not full submersible coatings) or cad-plated bolts (IE, not terribly corrosion resistant). Look at the details of what you're buying.

Keep in mind that mechanical joints are routinely buried, so the idea isn't wrong in itself.
