Can features be dimensioned from the centerplane of a true geometric counterpart of a non-cylindrical feature of size datum?

May get more bites at forum1103

Can you define what you mean?

Certainly you can center other features, or patterns of features on the "center line" of the datum feature (not sure that wordings quite right) ASME Y14.5M-1994 section 5.- figure 5-4 & section 5.13 - figures 5-59 & 5-60.

Are you saying you want to offset things from the center?

KENAT, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...

KENAT - You are correct. I want to dimension non-symetrical features from the centerplane rather than an edge of the datum feature.

Thanks,

thread1103-220239 is kind of relevant.
