I have no formal training in AutoCad so please bear with me. I just use the help menu and fumble through.

I have Auto CAD 2004.

I have imported a TIFF drawing. The drawing has some dimensions already on it. I would like to Dimension some of the other sections of it.

Here is what I have done:

Inserted a Raster Image
Scale facator: 1

Here is my problem.

I have a dim that is 245. When I use the Linear Dim tool the dimension I get is 3.2081. how can I get the Dim to be the same 245 mm?

Do I just do it again and change the scale factor?

If I had to guess it has something to do with my defult setting, but I do not know.

Thank you for your help and I aplogoze for such an elemetary question.

Kevin

Don't change the dimscale.

Use the SCALE command on the already inserted image, or reinsert it with a different scale. The new scale is

245
---
3.2081

Instead of calculating that and writing down the result,
try this:
When it asks for a scale factor, you can say

'cal<space>
245/3.2081<space>

... that built in calculator is nice to have. Too bad it doesn't work every place you might need it.
