Hello everyone,

I am trying to predict errosion-corrosion rate per year.
In order to do that I have to find Schmid number in its formular, Sc=µ?/d and then using the Berger and Hau correlation and rewriting to solve for K, K=(d/D)(0.0165)(Re)^0.86(Sc)^0.33
but I don't know how to calculate or find "d" which is referred to as a diffusivity.
For your reference, I am handling a slurry mixed water with fine sands of which dynamic viscosity is 150cP,density 1237 kg/m3, velociy 2.7m/s,Reynolds number 3251, NPS 6(Sch80)carbon steel pipe with no liner.
I would apprciate it if someone experienced previously advise me of my inquiry.
Please let me know if you need further information to answer.

Regards,

If its thermal diffusivity you are after this is defined as

(conductivity (j/m.s.°c)) / (density (kg/m3) x specific heat capacity (j/kg°c))

units in SI work out to m2/s

To give you an idea of the uusal value expected for water this is 1.753 exp -6 at 0 C

However there is also a term called diffusivity that relates to speed of reaching concentration equilibrium
