Maybe this is a silly question but I came across with this annoyance many times.

After an component replace some times it keeps previous component file name. I uploaded some screenshots were in the tooltip displays the previous component name, while the component is replaced with another.

Try going to...

Preferences -> Assemblies...

...and check the option set for 'Descriptive Part Name Style'. If it's not set to 'File Name' change it so that it is and see if that helps.

Thank you John for your reply.

It is set to 'File Name'. I figured out what I was doing wrong. When in 'replace component' dialog, I used to have 'maintain' name option instead of 'original', so it kept the previous component's name.

I think this is it.

Thank you again.

The reason for this is that a name given to a Component does NOT have to match the Part file name. Now if there is no other name, NX will use the Part File name as the Component name until someone overwrite it. Once a Component is added to an Assembly you can go in and give THAT Component a different name if you wish that will only change the name in that Assembly and the part file will have no knowledge of this change. That way you can assign Assembly specific names if there is need for that rather than having to duplicate a Part File just to get a Component with a different name. And of course, if someone has gone to the trouble of assigned specific names, you may not want to wipe those names out when replacing Components, thus the need for that 'Maintain' versus 'Original' option.
