Difference between rated discharge and design discharge?

Hi everyone, me and my friends had conflicting defination about the "rated discharge" and "design discharge" of hydropower plant.

Can anyone of you give me clear-cut answer on it??

Rated discharge is the full gate discharge at the rated rate head (also termed design discharge). The rated discharge is also referred to as turbine discharge capacity.
