Detuned capacitor banks

I am trying to get better understanding of detuned capacitor banks. I understand the basic prinicples with capacitor and inductors in series in order to avoid any harmonic that are present in the system. However, how the inductors are "tuned". There are tables with tuning frequencies, but no detailed theoretical explanation and formulas behind the inductor tuning.
