Design Table Question

Is there a way to drive a design table based on the weight calculated in the mass properties. Example: I have a plain alloy steel bar that has a 5" diameter and I leave it without a length dimension, but I want it to have an exact weight of 53 lbs. Can the design table make the model based on the weight I need? This would then give me the exact length based on the weight.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Are you wanting to just enter the weight, or pull the weight in from SW?

If you know the weight per foot of the steel, you could set up an equation inside of excel to calculate the length.

What I need to do is to set it up so that different length configurations will be generated by the O.D. & Weight combinations. The part is more detailed that just plain round bar stock because it has a 4.25" pilot in the center with a fixed thickness from the face of 0.5" This depth of the pilot will also change based on the length which is ok.

Examples:

O.D. = 15"
Weight = 58 Lbs
Length is = to "X"

O.D. = 10.5"
Weight = 35.75 Lbs
Length = "X"

Hope this helps to explain what I am looking for.

I don't think so, because the weight is pulled from the Material, length and O.D. - however I think you could probably set up an equation in SW to figure for this or in a DT, but you can't directly control the weight within SW. The Equation will be the key controling the weight.
