I am involved in timber bridge repair project that started out as a deck overlay replacement and is turning into a major rebuild of portions of the superstructure. Significant decay has been found in some of the timber beams requiring them to be replaced. I am recommending temporary shoring of the structure as the owners insist that the bridge cannot be closed, but that at least one of the two lanes remain open to traffic. I cannot find prescribed design loads for this temporary shoring in ASCE 7-05. Does anyone know where to find shoring design loads?

Thanks
Jethro

You should be using AASHTO, since its a bridge.

You have to calculate the loads in the shoring based upon your shoring configuration.

You shoud have a copy of the AASHTO specifications for temporary works.
