Hello everyone,

Is there any particular guidance documents, codes, or any writing, regarding the use of second hand steel members (beams, columns, purlins, etc.)?

I'm referring to typical steel sheds or buildings that have been disassembled and now they need a new use.

I would assume design doesn't change but is there any requirements regarding the inspection and or testing if necessary, of the members.

Any comment, guidance or experience is welcomed,

Kind regards.

Other than verification of the steel strength and accounting for holes and welds (for fatigue-critical members) in odd places, there's not much that should be different.
