Are there any design guide or data on how to size a precast concert post base for deck in California. Yes I know how to size footings, but can't find anything on this.

Do you mean "concrete" post, like Portland cement? Not concert?

Sorry to hi-jack/revive this silly thread,

I get a lot of grief from contractors about deck footings - I usually spec small pads with a rebar grid and dowels into the upstand. I can see that its a lot of steel and painful formwork for pretty light loads.

Had some contractors request to use these,

and I'm thinking about making them my standard spec, even though it is a proprietary product. With the slope on the top of the footing, I'm feeling comfortable to do away with most of the steel I usually spec.

thoughts?
