Denomination of metric bolts acc. to ANSI / ASME 1

Hello,

coming from a purely ISO / metric region and not familiar with the subtleties of metric fasteners in an imperial world, I'm in a project where metric bolts acc. to ANSI / ASME shall be used. Intentionally the heavy (structural) type of bolts. Unfortunately, the proc. dep. has corroded the specification for the bolts to the following:
example:
hexagon head bolt M16x100 A490M
There is no code denomination of required bolt dimensions (e.g. ASME B18.2.6M) nor is there the denomination "HEAVY".
My question:
Will some / any supplier correctly deliver "HEAVY" type of bolts purely due to the specified material (A490M)?

You should read the specification to be certain, but ASTM A490 is a bolt specification (not just a steel material specification). If I remember correctly, it requires the bolts to meet certain ASME B18.2.6 requirements.

Yes, thank you. I only now could get a glimpse into ASTM A490 and the "heavy" denom. was there ok. This will surely not change when applying ASTM A490M.
