At our site the compressor in many units are protected with fire water curtain system, linked to local detectors for actuation along with the conventional actuation system. During an insurance audit, they made a recommendation of providing deluge system pointing flow on compressor body. I had searched the standard but didn't find any mandatory requirement for this.
Looking for your feedback in this regards. Is it good to have or must to have?

Depends on a lot of factors but waterspray protection for process compressors is a fairly standard insurance recommendation. See CCPS Guidelines on Fire Protection book section 8.1.14.1 Likely not mandatory, although I once used the provision of an NfPA 15 compliant waterspray system among other factors to demonstrate an equivalent level of safety and overcome some otherwise restrictive building code requirements.
