Hi

I am trying to create a deformable spring in NX8.5. It is created depending on the length which is 230 mm. It is not a problem to get it reduced in length, but I would like it to compress instead of just reducing the number of turns. I have a test spring created in our cast training center which works perfectly.

Is there a solution to this, the spring is also created with variying pitch, but that should not be the problem. I want it to compress from 150 - 230 mm.

Best Regards

It seems to me like you need to create an expression in the spring that relates the compression length to the pitch. Then select that expression when you setup your deformable component.

You could probably get more help if you uploaded your part.

Attached is an NX 8.5 deformable 'Spring' that behaves the way you would like it to.

Thank you for your replies. I will try your solution later today :-)

I believe that my problem also is that I am trying to make it deformable with a varying pitch, I've attached my file if anyone wants to see it.
