On my heat exchanger program it issues a warning and wont calculate below 3mbarA - it states too low. I'm looking to evaluate the feasibility of running a system with deep vacuum at 2 mbarA. And wish to re-design my condenser.

SO.. How is it possible ? and what are the limits of HX design programs ? HTFS limits to 3 mbar.

Well, it become more difficult to protect against leaks, and you need to be more careful when it comes to buckling.
Practically speaking there isn't much difference.

What is the fluid on the low pressure side?
Do you have good thermodynamic data at these pressures/temperatures?

JamesBanda,

As stated by Ed Stainless, a lot depends on the fluid you are trying to condense. If you are trying to condsnse steam, say from an ejector system, 3 mb steam is saturated well below the freezing temperature.

Its process chemicals, so should be no water present.

If the thermodynamics was measured at suitable temperature conditions can one therefore assume they are valid ? my data records not really say about pressure limits?
