How do i convert my DCP readings to AASTO?

Please rephrase your question in more detail. DCP readings are a test result - AASHTO is a standard - many standards, so, you want to convert to "what"?? and why? What use? etc.

Does anyone have any papers on correlating DCP to kPa?

Where do these questions come from?? [dazed]

Hi Sheptech,

There are many such correlations around as well as methods to convert DCP to CBR.

In my opinion, such correlations, are only useful as toilet paper.

The DCP is extremely sensitive to moisture changes in the material. You can have 2 instances of an identical material that are compacted to the same degree but at completely different moisture contents. These correlations will give you a huge variation in the bearing capacity of that material.

You can get reasonable results in clean sands but in all other soils the DCP is better off being used as an investigative tool to discern the actual depth of strata changes that were detected in a borehole.

Sorry for the rant
Michael

How do i Interprete my DCP readings - AASTO?

hello everyone, if an earth dam is to be constructed. The soil on the site is clay. The initial water level is at the ground surface. During the construction, the water level has to be lowered in a short time, so that construction can proceed. This condition is commonly known as “sudden drawdown”. What type of triaxial tests would you recommend to carry out, and why?

ZZZMAN - please don't cross-post. Once is generally enough.

i am so sorry for my mistake!!sorry
