Datum leader snaps to dimension leader and not FCF

Hello, I have noticed this lately, I want to assign a datum to a true position callout which is made in an lower appended text to a hole dimension. When choosing the feature control frame, the suction cup previews as if it will attach correctly but then after an apply, it will snap to the dimension leader stub. What is the cause/cure? Using NX7.5.4.4 MP2 Rev F in TC8.3.3.2.

When tested on a new part file, functions correctly. I havent paid attention when it has happened in the past but this occurrance is with a file originating in NX3 at customer in Germany.

Thanks, Steve

I believe it's because the FCF is Appended Text, which treats the dimension, tolerances and appended text all as one entity.

My workaround is to create the dimension, then use the independent Feature Control Frame command to create the GD&T callout separately. You can use the Stacking alignment method in most cases and it will snap into a dashed box, after which you have the ability to change the positioning of the FCF relative to the dimension. Once that is done, you'll be able to attach your Datum Feature to the FCF. A word of warning: if you try to attach the Datum Feature to the FCF BEFORE stacking to the dimension, it won't allow the stacking to occur.
