CWI- PART B QUESTION

GOOD MORNING:

When I study IN THE PART B OF THE CWI, IN A QUESTION I HAVE TO FIND THE STEEL A514 BUT I DON`T FIND IT IN : APPENDIX XIV (PREQUALIFIED BASE METAL—FILLER METAL COMBINATIONS FOR MATCHING STRENGTH) OF THAT BOOK, - HOW DO I HAVE THE Electrode Classificationg FOR THE : A 514 ?

ASTM A514 isn't listed in Table XIV as a prequalified steel.

It is listed in table XV for the minimum preheat requirements.

Since it isn't prequalified, there will not be a filler metal listed in table XIV. However, table XV does say it has to be welded with low hydrogen electrode. So, depending on the responses listed, you would have to select the one that meets low hydrogen requirements.
