B31.3 states that all threads on seal welds should be covered with weld. However, sometimes with Hex Bull Plugs there are many threads still showing after it has been threaded into the threadolet making it akward and resulting in a somewhat ugly weld once all the threads are covered. Is it acceptable to cut some of the threads off the bull plug so that once it is screwed in not as many threads are showing and therefore not as much welding is required and a much better weld profile is attained?
