I asked about this once before and I know it's basically cut it at your own risk. But what I'm wondering is does anyone know why we could cut brass all the time with our 1500 watt CO2 laser, an LCE 655, but not with an FOM II 3015 nt that is 4000 watts and also a CO2 laser? Boss came up to me again today and asked about cutting .032" brass. Thanks.

In my opinion, there is no reason why you could do it on one machine and not the other. 0.032" is not that thick and should not be an issues. Just be careful, Keep an eye on it when it's cutting and you should be fine.

Brass is an issue due to the back reflection to the resonator, which can overheat mirrors and cause them to burn up.

Have you heard of the Black Magic lens by Ophir? It works well with reflective material.

I did just now lasermate. I'll have to look into it. Thanks.
