Hi All,

I'm having an issue with a custom property of mine. I want to display the sum of two dimensions in a note on the drawing for a part.

I created an equation defining a value of "length" which equals the sum of the dimensions. Then I created a custom property equal to that value "length".

The value shows at 26.25 in the property manager but when I insert the property into my note it displays as -2. What's the deal. The property is defined as a text item.

Thanks

overkill04,

From your description, I duplicated what you did. The value in my note equaled what was displayed in the property managaer. Where are you creating the note? I did mine in a drawing. In what tab did you create the custom property in the model (custom or configuration specific)? If you put the note into a drawing, what options did you pick (Current document, Model in view to which annotaion is attached, etc.)?

I'll try it a few other ways to see if there's something not quite adding up.

But to answer your question, I created the note in a drawing for the part. I created the custom property in the Part file, and it was NOT configuration specific.

And I used the model view option to insert the property.

Do you have a length custom property in the configuration specific tab that is set to -2? SolidWorks takes the value in the configuration specific tab before taking the value in the custom tab.

Do you have more than one config of the part?
Are you using a DT?
Which version of SW?

[cheers]
