When i create drawing with assemblies, sub assemblies and part details, I like to put a descritive note under each particular drawing view eg "Main Drive Sprocket Coupling" Scale 1:5. If i change the scale of the drawing I have to manually change the scale note. I know about the sheet scale option but their are some details which are usually at differnt scales.
Also is their a way (that works) that I can link item numbers of parts (detail drawings) to to the main BOM which may or may not be on the same sheet.
I'm using SW2003

Are you putting multiple details on one sheet?

Yes most times I am putting multiple details on one sheet as I put the assembly drawing, sections , etc on sheet 1 then details on sheet 2 and 3 if needed.

One method to get the scale to update automatically would be to create a section view of your assembly. Do not run the section line through the part you want to detail and then exclude all but the part(s) you want to detail. You should be able to move the section line outside the format so it does not show up when printed. You can move the section view to another sheet. When you use a scale other then the sheet scale, SW will create a note e.g. Section A-A Scale 1:2. You can edit this note to change Section A-A to the detail name (careful not to delete the hidden linefeed character). Now when you change the scale, it will update automatically.

How do you want to link the item number? If you use the method I describe above, you will be able to ballon the part with the item number.

Try this and see if it works.

Correction to what I wrote previously. I said to exclude all but the part(s) you want to detail. I should have said hide all but the part(s) you want to detail.
