Hi All

I am doing a research on Curtain wall/ storefront systems Thermal analysis. If you can help me with references to the below:

1-softwares to be used in thermal analysis of Mullios/Transoms with thermal breaks
2-Required tests to be done to make thermal evaluation of curtain wall systems with different glass units
3-tests to get u value of mullions/transoms with different glass units
4-what code/standard shall I follow to design energy efficient curtainwall/storefront system?

Thanks

one of many Software...see here
but good thing...it is free to use

Codes ..depends what country you are in

There is a suite of software from Lawrence Livermore which includes THERM, OPTIC and WINDOW for calculating this stuff.

You can also do it from first principles. Some of the coefficients come from ASHRAE like the surface film convection coefficients.

Sometimes you need NFRC ratings. Sometimes that can be through a certified modeler using the above software, and sometimes it has to be by test. Depends on whether its a commercial building and a variety of factors.

Frequently the glass manufacturers give you U and SHGC numbers, though they have just used the Livermore software to calculated it usually.
