Cupping test (ISO 1520)

Is anyone familiar with the testing of powder coated components according to the cupping test (ISO 1520) and more importantly the significance of the ?4mm value that I see on the specification sheet for the powder. I can't see why the 4mm should have a ? value. Does this value relate to the ball diameter or the depth to which the ball is forced into the material...? If it is the latter then I can insert the ball to 10mm - 100mm without any issues ?!

The [≥] 4 mm is not the ball diameter, it is the depth to which it is pressed when coating cracking or adhesion loss are detected. The 4 mm minimum has been found to meet certain end use requirements, e.g. the coating won't crack/peel/flake when the sheet metal is dented by foreign object collision. I have no idea what you are saying regarding 10 mm to 100 mm.
