Anyone have a good idea on how to create braided hoses in Solidworks? It would seem that using simple circular patterns may accomplish it, but I haven't had much luck so far.

FYI, a braided hose looks kind of like those "Chinese finger handcuffs" that we all played with as kids. Remember those?

Thanks,

What is your email address? I'll send the one I just made. It's not perfect, but it might give you a better understanding of it.

Hope this will help, Scott Baugh, CSWP :-)

You could try to use a Helix and sweep a rectangle shape about that for the bradied material. Depending on how many "starts" the braided hose would have, you might have to create 5-25 helixes, which would be very taxing on your system.

I think if you are trying to show the actualy braids, it might be beyond SWX at this time, especially if you are thinking about routing this hose up, around and through a part or assembly.

Scott, I'd be interested in seeing what you have. :)

I forgot to add...if anyone would like to see this "braided hose" please just send me an email and I'll send back to you.

I managed to get the file down to 15.1KB zipped. Scott Baugh, CSWP :-)
