Creating Sheet files

It just gets better and better...

Well, so for this POS - that would be V8 - has wasted a day by not saving level settings on a saved view basis.

So now I'm trying this new feature called "sheet files" and "model files." Seems to not do what I'd think it would. I've got a model file - what I've drawn up and a few "sheet files" that I HOPE will reflect various level being on or off depending upon what I want to show up in what particular drawing (each sheet is a separate plan sheet, right?). Got two of 'em to work but the third just doesn't want to turn the right levels on and the right levels off! What a pain.

I really want to AVOID making separate .dgn files for each drawing (normally that's what I'd do, but in this case, why should I?).

Anyone else experience glitches with this?

Hey
!

I think I've got it working now!

Here's what I did:

1. I'd set up my model with all the right levels turned on/off.

2. Save settings, save changes, save it all.

3. Exit program after saving everything.

4. Re-start program and open the file again.

5. Create a new sheet file and attach the model as a reference. All the levels come out appropriately.

6. Repeat each time you make a new sheet file.

Boy, I'm glad I HAVE TO EXIT AND RESTART THE PROGRAM EACH TIME FOR THIS TO WORK.

One more for my reaming-out list when the Bentley saleman calls to ask how things are...

BTW, I tried to contact Bentley through their website a week ago. No response yet.

Actually, the method you are using is right. Except for having to exit out everytime. I have created some and only need to save settings to get them to work. I am using V8.1

Thanks, RickHolley!

I have since been able to upgrade to V8.1 and model ==> sheet works the way it should.
