Woodfox, that's a pretty clever workaround.
I am not sure that it will work though. The 2D centerline expects 1+1 object to center between, which is kind of difficult for example on an "a".
The "classic" old workaround to create "freeform centers" is to create a surface between two contours and then extract the isoparametric 50% curve from that. Does not work on this geometry.
That said, this is probably a very difficult task since characters are drawn by artists and not by algorithms, the "thickness" of a letter varies "along".
Is there a good reason for the request ?
or can you cheat by creating a new text in the same place ?
There are several threads about this type of text feature but using a single line font only. ( This will not match 100% but might be an acceptable workaround)
I assume that engraving is a common purpose.
