Create Measure-Surface To Part?

I need to create a measure between the surface of one part and the nearest point on the surface of another whole part. Both components have curved surfaces, of varying radii.


I need to determine the maximum and minimum for these measures while the assembly runs through motion analysis.


Can a measurebe created and how?

hmm there is probably a neater way
but u could

step1
place a datum point on either point on both surfaces.

step2
then create a feature to measure the distance between both points (possible along a plane)

step3
create a optimisation feature to max/min this distance.

just a idea... might not work. dont have cad in front of me 2day
(you might also have to merge some surfaces for this to work well).

Iworked it out, just do an analysis distance between surface of 1 part and other whole part, then click add feature. Unfortunately we need BMX to add an analysis featurebut we only have MDO so i cant make it work!!!. Our old version (pre wildfire)had the ability to create analysis features, i guess we had the right options.


So i guess the question is - can it be done in MDO??
