Hello all,

I am attempting to recreate a part supplied by a plant which came to me in .step format. There is no design history, so I have no clue as to how some features were created. My question is: Is it possible to create a surface, or just use the whole solid body, to cut with? We have a similar construction of this part in our company CAD system, but there are some features that are not easily replicated. How would I go about performing an action like this? Detailed instructions appreciated

Simplest method would be to insert the part into another part, position to suit using the mates option, then use the Combine function with the Subtract option.

Another method...
Create a zero offset surface (or delete unwanted faces) & use that to Cut With Surface.

Awesome! Thank you!! One of the other designers was also able to assist me with this as well. The main problem I was running into was that the "solid body" was hollow and really not solid. I had to check the import surfaces box to get it to import. Thanks for your help!
