Cost for Ansys and MSCNastran

Can anyone out there give me a realistic cost for MSC.FEA bundled with MSC.Fatigue, MSC.SuperForge and the maintanence fee. I am being quote 106,500 USD by a sales rep and am wondering if I am being gouged here.

Ansys with a comprable package was quoted to me for about 43,000 USD.

I am not sure, but a 100 grand seems a little excessive.

Sounds very high for a single license, or is this for multiple seats? MSC has pricing on their web site for their various products, so you could use that to compare to the sales quote.

There is quite a gap between the quote from the rep and MSCs' website.

Know where i can get a quick quote for NENastran. There website is not very helpful.

Call them. They are generally quick to respond if they think you are serious. Off the top of my head, I think you are probably looking at $30k roughly, but I'm not sure what all is in MSC.FEA or MSC.SuperForge.

First I think you should check why there is a signaficant gap between the MSC website and your rep. Just to make sure that there is no missunderstanding.

Second, if you need all the capabilities in the "kit" you have quoted I think you can forget NEiNastran. I far as I know, and this can be wrong, but I don't think it has the capabilities you require.

ThomasH makes a good point and justifies my clarification of uncertainty...MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE COMPARING "APPLES TO APPLES". Software companies are not bound to the same professional ethics to which I hope most engineers conform. It is difficult at times to wade through specifics in the software to make sure you are getting what you need. I generally think NEiNastran is capable of just about anything MSC can handle, but I've really only used the linear and non-linear structural analysis capability. I've never compared fatigue or many other features. I still say call them, but make sure you know what you're looking for when you call them.
