I'm trying to show a cosmetic pattern on a model to represent perforated sheet instead of putting holes in.
Try as I might I cannot get anything to show, the plate still remains a blank plate. Is there a view option that needs to be turned on or such like?

Not sure, I can see the Real View Golden ball and chequer pattern / neon pattern work. How do Ic heck if my card (I assume you mean video card) supports Real View?

Fell at the 1st hurdle, neither my Laptop manufacturer (Toshiba) or my graphics card type ( ATI Radeon HD 3470 ) are listed, sod it.

On a tangent to your specific question, I typically cut a small sample of the perf pattern in the sheet, and outline the overall perfed area with a sketch. The small area is used on the print for a detail of the pattern and the outline shows the area to be perfed. In the dxf file for the cutting machines we use either an array for the holes, or a G-code for the pattern.

Regards, Diego
