I have a corroded anodized aluminium panel and I would like to know the root cause for the corrosion of anodized aluminium (6063) panel which is in service near ocean.

1) Scanning Electron Microscopy has revealed several cracks in the anodized layer. Is it common??

2) EDS analysis on the cross-section has revealed 10% Sn in the coating at the anodized layer/substrate interface. Do we notice tin (Sn) in the anodized layer??

3) No evidences of mechanical damage at the corroded regions.

4) In coastal environment, is it OK to use Class II anodized aluminium?

Appreciate your thoughts.
