Copying an exploded view

SW95 sp4.0

I did a Save As to duplicate an assy that needed some changes.
I swapped out 3 major sub-assys and due to plane orientation inconsistencies between the old and new sub-assys, remating and repositioning of the planes were required. So after editing and all parts looked proper I crossed my fingers and opened the exploded view, and wasn't too surprised to see a little chaos and disorder. Now, the question with a perilous answer.... Any tricks out there to keep me from performing and duplicating a 60 step explosion? If not anyone ever have to do such duplicating and what methods did you learn that made this less burdensome?

Thanks in advance.

Oops I mean SW97

Ok, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume (hope) that you mean SW07...
You can click on each step and it will highlight all the stuff that's being moved. You can RMB on each step and edit it. Add/remove parts as needed and change direction.
That would probably be easier than trying to recreate the explosion.

TomFin ... Are you trying to type SW05? That's what you've specified in previous threads ... or are you caught in some kind of time warp?

Sorry again SW2005. I'm sure.
No time warps yet, just disorientation.

Ahah ... umm, what was the question again? [smile]

JMirisolas post gives the best method for fixing it.

Thanks all

Ah the glorious exploded view nightmare. Simple solution delete the exploded view and start over. Odds are there are now a bunch of steps that are blank, so you need to identify those, delete them, then go through and try to identify the steps for like parts.

Another solution. Go back to the previos file and do a save as again. Now do a replace component and redo the mates. Now when you explode at least the part is were the other is and you may have some luck cleaning it up.

I always find that just redoing it yields cleaner and better results, after all it is only time.

Yeah sometimes I take it for granted how much time this CAD software has actually saved me altogether and I keep expecting more and more from it.
